Unilock Construction in Ontario, CA | Square One Builders
We’re Square One Builders, and we install and repair Unilock paver systems across Ontario, CA, with our General Contractor in Ontario leading every project. The thing that makes our Unilock work different here is straightforward: we dig before we lay. On former dairy land, the paver is rarely the problem. What’s underneath it usually is. Call (877) 688-9930 for a free estimate on any Unilock driveway, patio, or wall project in Ontario.

Why Ontario Residents Choose Us for Unilock Service
We’ve spent years working Unilock systems into Inland Empire soil, and we know their product line the way a framer knows Title 24 load tables. Brussels Block, Uni-Stone, Beacon Hill, Copthorne. Each unit has its own base spec, its own joint sand grade, its own edge restraint profile. We read the installation manuals, yes, but more useful is what we’ve learned pulling up failed jobs across Ontario. Brent Calloway, our owner, grew up in Midway City off Bolsa Avenue and has nearly three decades in construction, from hauling material to running full-scope remodels. He learned early that the base detail matters more than the paver, and that’s the instinct behind every Unilock job we take in Ontario.
We’re an independent crew. Not manufacturer-authorized, not factory-certified. We use Unilock’s own edge restraints and joint sand where the system calls for it because the profile and gradation match their units, and we’ll pull aftermarket base aggregate from local quarries when supplier lead times stall a job. You get a straight answer about what your project needs, not a branded pitch. For Unilock sales & service across the Inland Empire, we bring field experience that credential-heavy installers often don’t have.

Common Unilock Construction Problems We Solve in Ontario
Most of our Unilock repair in Montclair and Ontario calls fall into a few familiar patterns. Here’s what we see, and why it happens here.
- Edge-course settlement on Brussels Block driveways in Ontario Ranch. The pavers stay intact, but the sub-base pumps and the edge restraint lifts. This happens when base was compacted over former dairy-land fill that was never properly stripped. The fix is base excavation and re-compaction, not new pavers.
- Efflorescence on Copthorne and Uni-Stone wall units after winter rains. Ontario’s south side sits on manure-impacted and high-salt soils from its agricultural past. Rain wicks moisture through that soil and into the wall units, leaving white mineral bloom behind. Homeowners often think it’s a product defect. It’s not. It’s a soil chemistry issue, and the fix is different than replacing the wall.
- Joint-sand washout and ant migration on Beacon Hill patios. We see this on patios where polymeric sand was swept in during a hot, dry Inland Empire summer and never properly activated with water. The sand never sets, ants colonize the joints, and the patio surface starts shifting. Re-sanding with proper activation is the fix.
- Shifting and rutting at driveway aprons on older lots. In the 91761 and 91762 neighborhoods, many paver-to-concrete transitions fail because the original slab edge was never cut back and the Unilock system was bridged over it. The paver side shifts, ruts form, and the apron looks sunken. Proper edge preparation solves this.
- Poor drainage on flat former farmland lots. South Ontario and Ontario Ranch lots were graded from agricultural land, and many have drainage issues that don’t show until winter rains arrive. Pavers amplify the problem if base grading wasn’t set right. We regrade and re-base before re-laying the units.
Unilock Service in Ontario: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Pavers
Here’s the thing about Unilock work in Ontario that a generic paver page won’t tell you. Ontario Ranch and the south side were built over former dairy and agricultural land. Before any Unilock driveway or patio goes down there, a good crew needs to know what’s buried beneath the surface. We probe for manure-impacted soils, abandoned irrigation lines, and old fill that grading contractors never removed. A crew working older built-out lots in 91761 never has to think about that. We do. We tore out and re-based a Brussels Block driveway on a newer Ontario Ranch lot where the pavers had dipped into a soft pocket two winters after install. A probe found old dairy-farm fill the original grading never stripped. Our tech excavated to stable soil, re-compacted base in lifts, reset the Unilock edge restraints, re-laid the salvaged Brussels Block and re-sanded. That driveway has held through two rainy seasons since. That’s the difference between knowing pavers and knowing Ontario.
Unilock Models & Products We Service in Ontario
We install and repair the full Unilock residential lineup across Ontario: Brussels Block, the tumbled dimensional block paver that’s everywhere in local driveways; Uni-Stone, the stone-texture paver; Beacon Hill, the smooth-faced flagstone-style slab; and Copthorne, the clay-look wall and paver unit. For each system, we use Unilock’s own edge restraints and joint sand where the profile demands it. We stock common units and matching edge restraints locally for faster Ontario turnaround, and we’ll pull base aggregate from I-15 corridor quarries when lead times get tight. Honest repair beats replacement on almost every Unilock job. A settled Brussels Block driveway is a base and re-lay job, not a tear-out and re-buy.

FAQs – Unilock Construction in Ontario
No. We’re an independent hardscape and construction crew serving Ontario and the wider Inland Empire. Our credibility comes from repeated field experience installing and repairing Unilock systems, not from any manufacturer certification. We read Unilock’s installation manuals carefully, and we’ve pulled up enough failed jobs in Ontario to know what the manuals leave out. That independence means we recommend what your project actually needs, not what a brand rep wants us to push. Start from square one, build it right.
Yes, in most cases we can match your existing Unilock pavers by product line, color blend, and age-related weathering. We re-lay salvaged units from the unaffected area and blend in matching replacements where needed. The bigger question is why part of the patio shifted and part didn’t. That usually points to a base issue under the affected section, and we fix that before anything gets re-laid. Call (877) 688-9930 and we’ll assess both the visible paver damage and what’s underneath it.
Most Unilock repairs in Ontario and San Antonio Heights Unilock service calls take one to three days, depending on the size of the affected area and what the base probe reveals. A simple joint re-sand can be done in an afternoon. A full base rebuild on former dairy fill, like we did on that Ontario Ranch Brussels Block driveway, took several days including excavation and re-compaction. Weather matters too. Ontario’s hot summers slow polymeric sand curing if it’s not activated properly. We schedule around that.
We install and repair Brussels Block, Uni-Stone, Beacon Hill, and Copthorne systems across Ontario. That covers driveways, patios, walkways, and retaining or seat walls. We stock common units and matching edge restraints locally, and we source Unilock’s own joint sand where the system calls for it. For less common color blends, we order direct and schedule delivery around your project timeline.
Unilock driveway replacement in Ontario typically runs $5,000 to $14,000, while new paver driveway installation runs $7,000 to $18,000. The spread depends on whether we’re re-using salvaged units or sourcing new ones, and how much base work the former farmland soil demands. Call (877) 688-9930 for an exact quote. Estimates are free, and we’ll show you the base condition before you commit to anything.
