Why Corona Homeowners Choose CGI Construction

Square One Builders provides independent CGI construction and installation service throughout Corona, CA, specializing in CGI cabinetry, countertops, and frameless shower enclosures. We work with CGI products every week and understand their installation tolerances, failure points, and the specific challenges Corona’s hard water and summer heat create. We are not affiliated with or authorized by CGI, and we’re upfront about that. Call (877) 688-9930 for a free estimate on any CGI project in Corona.

What makes our CGI work different is simple: we’re a full-scope general contractor, not a cabinet shop that subcontracts the rest. When a Corona kitchen needs CGI cabinets, a quartz countertop, and a new walk-in shower, we handle the framing, plumbing, electrical, tile, and finish work under one contract. One team accountable from the ground up.

Why Trust Square One Builders for Your CGI Construction?

We’ve been installing and servicing CGI products across Corona and the Inland Empire long enough to know how these materials behave after five, ten, and fifteen years of daily use. Brent Calloway, our owner, grew up in the Midway City pocket off Bolsa Avenue and learned framing and finish work through the Construction Technology program at Golden West College before spending decades on job sites throughout Orange County and the Inland Empire, where we also offer Midway City CGI service. That background shapes how we approach every CGI project: understand the structure first, then layer in the finishes.

CGI cabinets and countertops sit inside a system. A cabinet face that looks straight on a wall with a 3/8-inch sag will never hang right. A quartz countertop with inadequate sink support will crack, regardless of slab quality. We spec and install CGI products within the full context of the room, which is why our installations hold up. We use CGI-specific hardware when available, source OEM parts for discontinued lines where possible, and we don’t cut corners on the structural prep that determines how the finished product performs.

Common CGI Construction Problems We Fix in Corona

Here are the issues we see most often with CGI products in Corona kitchens and bathrooms, and what actually causes them:

  • Cabinet door warping and delamination near the range: CGI Euro-style full-overlay doors and shaker faces are stable products when installed with adequate ventilation. But Corona’s inland heat combined with steam from an under-powered range hood puts constant thermal and moisture stress on the finish. We see delamination start at the door edges, especially on upper cabinets above ranges with no proper hood exhaust. The fix is often a combination of door replacement and ventilation correction.
  • Premature drawer glide failure in wide pot drawers: CGI soft-close glides are rated for specific loads, and wide drawer boxes loaded with cast iron and heavy cookware routinely exceed that rating. The glide wears out, the drawer starts to sag, and the soft-close mechanism stops engaging. We replace the glides with appropriately rated hardware and often reinforce the drawer box at the same time.
  • Hairline cracks in CGI quartz at sink cutouts: This is the most common quartz failure we repair in Corona, and it’s almost always an installation issue, not a material defect. Quartz expands and contracts with temperature swings, and Corona’s seasonal shifts are enough to stress any unsupported span. Without proper support rails and isolation of the sink cutout, hairline cracks radiate from the corners. We see it most often with under-mount sinks and wide single-basin installations.
  • Shower door seal and hinge loosening from hard water: Corona’s municipal water is hard, which means mineral buildup on CGI frameless shower enclosures and corrosive stress on metal hardware. Hinges loosen, seals get stiff and lose contact, and door alignment shifts. The fix is often a hardware and seal replacement paired with a leveling adjustment, but leaving it too long leads to leaks and frame damage.
  • Swollen cabinet boxes from repeated moisture exposure: Near a sink base or dishwasher opening, CGI cabinet boxes can absorb moisture if the plumbing or appliance sealing has been compromised. The tell is a swollen or darkened box panel and doors that no longer sit flush. If the box is structurally sound, we repair the damaged component. If the panel has lost integrity, replacement is the honest call.

CGI Parts & Our Repair-vs-Replace Approach

When a CGI cabinet door, hinge, or glide fails, the first question is whether we can get the OEM part. We source genuine CGI hinges, glides, drawer slides, and seals whenever the line is still in production. For discontinued or out-of-stock items, we use equivalent-quality aftermarket hardware from manufacturers we’ve worked with for years. We’ll tell you which is which and why before any work begins.

Determining repair versus replacement comes down to condition and cost. If the cabinet boxes are solid and the face is intact, replacing hardware or refacing beats a full rebuild, both in price and disruption. But if the box is water-damaged, delaminated, or structurally compromised, patching it is a waste of your money. We’ll give you a straight recommendation, and a written line-item estimate either way. Our CGI Service Process – Step by Step

  1. 1
Diagnosis: We inspect the product in place, check for underlying structural or moisture issues, and document what’s failing and why. For quartz, we check support rails, seam placement, and any thermal stress points. For cabinets, we test every glide, hinge, and box panel. For shower enclosures, we check alignment, seal integrity, and hard water damage.
  2. 2
Scope and quote: We provide a written, fixed-scope estimate with CGI-specific materials, part numbers, and labor. The price you see is the price you pay if the scope doesn’t change. No vague allowances.
  3. 3
Repair or installation: We source the parts, schedule the work, and complete it with the prep that prevents recurrence. That means reinforcing sink cutouts, upgrading ventilation if it’s causing the problem, and using corrosion-resistant hardware in hard water areas.
  4. 4
Testing and adjustment: We load and cycle drawers, run water on shower enclosures, check door gaps and alignment, and confirm everything stays put under real use. The job isn’t done until it functions correctly and holds up to inspection.
  5. 5
Walkthrough and warranty: We review the work with you, explain any maintenance that applies to CGI products in Corona’s climate, and leave you with documentation. Our workmanship is backed by our own guarantee, separate from any manufacturer warranty.
